Get started with Macquarie Authenticator

Macquarie Authenticator (Authenticator app) is one of the most secure verification methods. It’s a mobile app that allows you to verify certain transactions and account changes when using the online portal.

How Macquarie Authenticator works

Once you've set up the Authenticator app on your device, the Authenticator app:

  • sends push notifications to your mobile or tablet to approve or deny online transactions and account changes made from your account by you or your financial adviser, and
  • provides codes that are available 24/7 without the reliance of a cellular or data network, overcoming internet or SMS issues when you’re travelling overseas.

Why do I need to use Macquarie Authenticator instead of another authenticator app?

The Authenticator app adds an extra layer of security to safeguard your account and personal information. It works seamlessly with the online portal, alerting you to any account changes and transactions so you can approve or deny them with just one touch.

We’ve reviewed other Third-Party Authenticator apps on the market, and they all deliver a great experience, but they miss one function – to provide detailed information on what’s being authorised. With the rise of malware and highly sophisticated phishing attacks, what you see on the screen isn’t necessarily what you’re approving with a traditional One-Time-Passcode (OTP) from a third-party authenticator app. With the Authenticator app, you can confidently approve transactions and account changes after reviewing all the important details upfront on the mobile device, such as account, payee, and payment details. We strongly believe this approach protects you in a superior way.

When will I use Macquarie Authenticator?

The Authenticator app allows you to review and verify certain transactions and account changes, some of which are outlined below:

  • Verify log in and Authorise Adviser Initiated Super and Pension payments
  • Authorise change of details
  • Downgrade your security settings. You're not required to authenticate when you upgrade your security setting from Enhanced to Ultimate.
  • Deactivate Macquarie Authenticator on a device in the online portal.
